Automotive Technician / Heavy equipment technician  Military Vehicles

JOB TITLE: Automotive Technician / Heavy equipment technician - Army Base 
Location Eastern Europe 
Performs as the Automotive Technician/ Heavy Equipment Mechanic/ assisting in the day-to-day operations Removal and installation of suspension components for the Vehicle, to include operating and inspecting machines or equipment, dismantled, reassembling equipment, and testing overhauled equipment to insure proper operation and installation.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain mechanical equipment to include servicing, adjusting, and testing
    machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily basis on
    the mechanical (not electronic) principles.
  • Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment to include running,
    maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as
    Vehicles forklifts or passenger vehicles.
  • Remove and replace suspension components per the work instruction.
    Inspect items to be reinstalled on the equipment for excessive wear; replace
    component as required.
  • Operate small electric or gas-powered forklift.
  • Perform as a team to install components; heavier parts require two-person lift.
    Identify opportunities for process improvements and present them to the project
    manager.
  • Clean the maintenance bay after each complete install using water, brooms and
    mops.
  • Work in hot and cold conditions (not climate controlled).
  • Maintain current knowledge of the equipment and apply any technical updates or
    changes to maintenance procedures.
  • Identify safety hazards or conditions to the project manager immediately.
  • Package removed components for transportation.
  • Unpack new components for install.
    Understand and abide by the standards set forth for ethical behavior and integrity
    as detailed in the Code of Business Conduct.
    Perform all other duties prescribed by management.

     
Profile
  1. Must be able to troubleshoot and determining causes of operating errors and
    decide what to do about it.
  2. Experience  heavy vehicle experience (Truck / Bus), Deisel engine experience  Hydraulic system Plant equipment experience (dozers / excavators) Air system experience 
  3. Must have active learning skills to be able to understand the implications of new
    information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  4. Must be able to use hoists and hand tools, examine parts for damage or excessive
    wear, report defective equipment to the appropriate personnel and use
    micrometers and gauges accurately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent
with the described maintenance experience identified above. Will train as required.
