Senior Gas Trader

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Project: 1,700 MW Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant
Once commissioned, it will be among the largest and most efficient CCGT power plants in Eastern Europe, supporting decarbonization goals and sustainable energy production.


Role Overview

The Deputy for Gas Sector will oversee commercial and trading activities related to gas supply and portfolio management. The role focuses on gas procurement, contract management, balancing, and optimization of gas-to-power operations. It requires a strong understanding of the gas market, trading mechanisms, and energy regulation in Romania and the EU.


Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Commercial in implementing the gas trading and procurement strategy.
• Manage daily gas supply operations, including nomination, balancing, and scheduling.
• Negotiate and manage gas supply and transportation contracts with suppliers and partners.
• Monitor market developments, gas prices, and consumption forecasts to optimize costs and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with ANRE and EU regulations regarding gas trading, storage, and balancing.
• Collaborate with the power trading team to align gas procurement with generation needs.
• Prepare analytical reports and forecasts on gas market performance and portfolio optimization.
• Contribute to the company’s CO₂ reduction and energy efficiency strategies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with gas suppliers, TSOs, and market operators.


Candidate Profile

• Education: Degree in Economics, Energy Management, or Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in gas trading, procurement, or energy portfolio management.
• Excellent understanding of the Romanian and European natural gas markets and regulations.
• Proven ability to analyze market data, optimize trading positions, and manage contractual obligations.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English and Romanian is required.
