Electrical Specialist (Offshore / Marine)
Role Overview
As an Electrical Specialist, you will be part of a Centre of Expertise, providing technical support to offshore fleet operations and project teams on electrical systems, automation, and Dynamic Positioning (DP). You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of onboard electrical and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure availability and reliability of all electrical equipment, automation, and DP systems across vessels.
- Provide technical advice to fleet management and vessel teams on electrical and automation systems.
- Support day-to-day troubleshooting and technical issue resolution onboard vessels.
- Deliver technical guidance during vessel dockings, repairs, and upgrades.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).
- Develop and manage fleet critical spare parts strategies and lifecycle management.
- Conduct vessel inspections and assess equipment performance and compliance.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors for technical evaluations and support.
- Coach and guide vessel and fleet teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of systems.
- Promote adherence to QHSE standards and ensure safe working practices.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, such as:
- Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) on DP vessels, or
- Experience with design, installation, commissioning, or servicing within shipyards, OEMs, or service companies
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Vessel power generation and distribution systems
- PLC/SCADA-based automation systems
- Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems
- Solid understanding of applicable industry standards
- Demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to safety and environmental standards
- Proficient in English (written and spoken), including technical reporting
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and stay onboard vessels for extended periods
