Job title ETO Instructor / Maritime Electrical Instructor
Short introduction

Do you have practical experience as an ETO or maritime electrical specialist and would you like to use that knowledge in education?

We are looking into opportunities to provide instructors for maritime studies and training programmes, with a particular focus on ETO and electrical subjects. The ideal candidates are technically skilled professionals who understand the reality on board and can translate that experience into clear, practical lessons.

Teaching experience is welcome, but not essential. For candidates with the right practical background, an internal train-the-trainer programme is available.

Where You’ll Work

You will support maritime education and training programmes from Ostend or online, depending on the need and your availability.

The training period runs from early September until the end of June. There are no lessons during holiday periods. The expected workload can be up to 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, but flexibility is possible.

What You’ll Be Working On

The focus is on maritime electrical and ETO-related training.

You will help students or trainees understand the electrical systems, operational challenges, and practical responsibilities they may face in a maritime environment. Your practical experience is important here. The goal is not just to explain theory, but to connect it to real situations on board.

What You’ll Do
  • Teach or support lessons in maritime electrical and ETO-related subjects.
  • Share practical knowledge from real maritime or offshore experience.
  • Help students understand technical systems, fault finding, safety, and operational responsibilities.
  • Prepare and deliver lessons either on location in Ostend or online.
  • Follow the required training structure and competency framework.
  • Take part in an internal train-the-trainer programme if needed.
  • What You Bring
  • Practical experience as an ETO, electrical officer, marine electrical specialist, or similar.
  • A good understanding of maritime electrical systems and onboard operations.
  • The ability to explain technical topics clearly and practically.
  • Confidence working with students, trainees, or junior professionals.
  • Availability from early September until the end of June, fully or partly.
  • English language skills are sufficient.
Teaching experience is useful, but not required.
What’s In It For You?
  • A flexible teaching or training assignment in the maritime sector.
  • The opportunity to pass on your practical knowledge to future maritime professionals.
  • Work from Ostend or online, depending on the programme needs.
  • No lessons during holiday periods.
  • Internal train-the-trainer support if you have the right technical background but limited teaching experience.
  • Flexible workload possibilities, from partial availability to a fuller weekly schedule.
  • Interested?
