About the Role

As a Pricing Analyst, you will play a key role in improving profitability and strengthening the commercial position of strategic customer accounts.

You will independently analyze pricing, cost, and profitability data to identify opportunities, understand the underlying business drivers, and develop clear, evidence-based recommendations. Working closely with Key Account Management, Finance, Operations, Post-Calculation, and Quoting teams, you will translate analysis into pricing actions, quotation strategies, contract improvements, and customer negotiation support.

This position combines commercial analysis, manufacturing understanding, and pricing expertise. Beyond analyzing numbers, you will be expected to understand the operational reality behind them, challenge assumptions, and identify where products, services, and technical capabilities create value that should be reflected in pricing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Independently Identify Profitability Issues

  • Proactively review the customer portfolio to identify margin erosion, loss-making products, and pricing that no longer reflects actual costs.
  • Investigate root causes, including:
    • Cost drivers
    • Volume and product mix changes
    • Indexation gaps
    • Scrap and rework costs
    • Outsourced processes
    • Contractual mechanisms that no longer reflect business reality
  • Prioritize opportunities based on financial impact and implementation feasibility.
  • Provide a clear, ranked overview of where commercial action should be taken first.

  • Transform complex cost and profitability analyses into clear, persuasive executive-level narratives.
  • Prepare customer-facing negotiation materials and executive presentations supported by:
    • Defensible logic
    • Credible data
    • Clear recommendations
    • Alternative negotiation scenarios and fallback positions

3. Partner with the Post-Calculation and Quoting Teams

  • Compare actual production costs against quoted assumptions and quantify the key drivers behind variances.
  • Validate and challenge cost inputs such as:
    • Machine hours
    • Material consumption
    • Outsourced processing costs
    • Routings
    • Setup times
    • Scrap and rework rates
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and other technical teams to ensure costing and pricing decisions are based on reliable data.
  • Convert post-calculation findings into commercial actions, including:
    • Price adjustments
    • Re-quotations
    • Contract amendments
    • Internal cost-improvement initiatives
  • Ensure lessons learned are systematically incorporated into future quotations, improving cost estimates, pricing assumptions, and target margins.
  • Support the Quoting team on complex RFQs and pricing exercises through:
    • Historical cost analysis
    • Profitability benchmarking
    • Manufacturing complexity assessments
    • Commercial assumptions
  • Identify recurring gaps between quoted and actual costs and help address root causes.
  • Contribute to improving the accuracy, consistency, and transparency of costing and quotation data.

4. Work Closely with Key Account Managers

  • Act as the analytical partner to the Key Account Management team.
  • Develop robust pricing and profitability cases while supporting account managers in customer discussions.
  • Participate in customer preparation sessions and, when appropriate, support negotiations with real-time analysis and scenario modelling.
  • Support:
    • RFQs
    • Contract renewals
    • Long-term agreements
through pricing simulations, business cases, and margin impact assessments.
